Get Smart

Saturday night Chuck and I saw Get Smart. This movie is absolutely hilarious with tons of slap stick and funny innuendos. The entire theater audience was laughing. Steve Carell is plays Maxwell Smart as good as Don Adams did in the TV series. And Anne Hathaway was great as agent 99.

I was 10 years old the TV series Get Smart was on TV, I watched it on our white plastic portable black and white TV. The following picture of the TV set is similar but ours was all white. Then the following Christmas, when I was 11, I received the Get Smart Board game. On a collectors site you can buy one for $85.00. I wouldn't pay that much for it today.

Anyway, it was a great trip down memory lane the movie is very funny and after all; laughter is the best medicine!

Kung Fu Panda & The Man Party

Tonight is Steve Wallace's "Man Party." By the name of the party you can guess that it is only for men and their mutual age sons, no women or babies are allowed. He was bummed out that the women seem to have all the nice parties so he planned this party totally from a man's point of view. There are no table cloths, in fact the only table is a ping pong table, no flowers and froo-froo decor. He simply hung a chain saw in a tree, gathered a box of cow chips to throw, found the biggest grill in town and fired it up. Each man brought their "Hunk-o-Meat" to grill and he baked potatoes provided ketchup, cake & ice-cream. Chuck took a ice chest full of root beer and it was party time.
I just got off the phone with Barbara, she stayed to help Steve at his request and they are sitting around laughing and telling stories. She says they are having a great time but doesn't really know what is going on out there as she is staying in the house.
Several of us ladies decided we should do something fun so a group of us converged on Emmett's Frontier Cinema and saw the only show in town, Kung Fu Panda. Jack Black does the voice of the Panda and they also use his facial expressions. He makes the movie absolutely hilarious. Other voices in the movie come from Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Lui & Jackie Chan. I rate this movie 5 stars as it is entertaining, fast moving, funny with some surpises. It is definitely a buy for your home collection. Below is a picture of the group after the movie.
One funny story that happened at the theater. As I went outside to see if anyone else was coming in and Roy, the theater owner had just come in and said, "Sorry I don't see any more of your group outside. There are just some kids." I opened the door and there was Carol and Mary! They were some of the younger of our group & Mary had her hair in french braids like a young girl might wear, I guess they looked a little teenagerish. I would have relished if a comment like that were directed towards me; rather, I obsessed over the old turtles neck in the movie. I thought it looked like mine with all the bags, wrinkles & sags in all the right places.

Here we all are after the movie, still having a great time. Thanks goes to Steve Wallace for his "Man Party" for a fun filled Friday evening.

Nim's Island

Last night Chuck took me to see Nim's Island at the Frontier Cinema. It's a Disney Fantasy, Adventure film about a girl and her scientist father who live in an island in the South Pacific. He wrecks his sail boat in a storm and she finds company through the e-mail with her favorite author. Yes, there is e-mail on the island because of electricity generated by solar panels and they have a satellite dish too. I did mention that this is Disney Fantasy, right.

Regardless, it's entertaining, suspenseful, full of adventure & excitement; there are intelligent animals & creatures with human attributes which Disney is famous for through out the movie. Yet it's a lot of fun, your family will enjoy this movie.

Mr Woodcock

I had a free Redbox rental and we rented Mr Woodcock with Billy Bob Thornton, Susan Sarandon & Sean William Scott.

What a waste of a free Redbox. Chuck agreed with me, we rate this movie a waste of time to watch and a definately "Do Not Buy." Thank goodness I slept through it but what I saw I don't recommend.

It is filled with vulgar innuendos, I should have known from the cover. My only defense; A temporary lapse of judgement.

My Life at the Movies

I married a movie man. Movies were a part of his childhood because his mother loved them and talked about them so much. As a young woman she worked at Metro Goldwyn Mayer in the front office. She tells stories of the famous movie stars she met and saw so movies were a part of the Cluff life growing up.
It was a difficult change when we moved to Emmett and we had to drive to Boise to see a movie. We saw a lot less, way less. Then Roy came to town and bought the Frontier Cinema. Roy loves movies too and brings in the current ones and for $4.00! On Tuesdays it's ladies night or cheap date night and the price is $2.50! It's an old theater with old seats but a great sound system. Roy even gave us a tour fo the back stage and entire theater, he's a great guy.
so our life at the movies resumed though not at the weekly pace we attended them in Torrance. We get to the cinema about 2 times a month.
The last movie we saw was "The Spiderwick Chronicles." It was a fun SciFi-Fantasy. I would recommend it for all but Little ones that get frightened easily. The goblins are pretty gruesome creatures and there are parts that make you jump.
